Virgil street sign Virgil is located along Route 64 (North Avenue) in the far western area of Kane County. Established as a farming hamlet in the late 19th century, Virgil continues to be a community firmly rooted in its rural traditions. A central housing area and the Sts. Peter and Paul Church are surrounded by farmland and a Kane County Forest Preserve area (acquired in 2006).

Dec 22, 2008 - April 7, 2009 Consolidated Election: 3 Village of Virgil Trustee positions will become vacant next April, and will be on the ballot for this election. These are 4-year terms commencing April, 2009 through April, 2013. Dates to file Candidate's Nominating Papers: Jan. 19-26, 2009 You may contact the Village Clerk for election information and/or how to obtain Candidate Nominating papers if you are interested in running for Trustee for the Village of Virgil.

Dec 22, 2008 - Virgil Village's section of IC Trail will be resurfaced next spring with a chip and seal coating. This roadway at Sauber Road and goes east to the village limits. FYI: There are four "owners" of IC Trail. From west to east starting with Kane County up to Sauber Road; then Village of Virgil to our village limits; then Virgil Township; then Village of Lily Lake out to Route 47.
